Year Round Experience

Children 05 Year-Round Experience (YRE) is based on the philosophy that learning and development happens all year long in both traditional and non-traditional classrooms. The Milton Hershey School® program provides a consistent experience throughout the - even during school vacation breaks and summer months - in a safe and nurturing environment.

During the first week after the traditional school year ends, division-specific programming includes activities to celebrate the end of the school year, as well as to increase skills and explore new areas of interest. In addition, the MHS Summer Academy at Penn State Harrisburg helps juniors transition to their senior year. Student home vacations take place during the second week.

Students have the option and are encouraged to stay on campus during the middle six weeks of summer to accelerate or remediate learning, increase their skills in co-curricular activities, and participate in a variety of camps.

Students return to campus two weeks before the first day of classes in August to prepare for the new school year, begin fall practices, and participate in various activities.
