- The “MHS Centennial Mural & Catherine Hershey Sculpture — A Pictorial Retrospective” opens in the Clyde Stacks Gallery. Through a photographic chronology, the show offers an inside look at the creation of the two pieces created to celebrate the MHS Centennial.

The MHS community honors the life and legacy of The Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. with special events marking the national MLK Jr. holiday, including class discussions of the Civil Rights Movement and a silent march. Sophomore Sharron Townsend wins the Spartan Character & Leadership Award, recognizing a leader who champions respect, tolerance, and compassion for all people regardless of differences, and works to eliminate bullying on the MHS campus. In addition, students performed service at food banks, shelters, and soup kitchens.
