Transitional Living Curriculum

Summary

Some transitional living students order takeout.

The current curriculum is a series of workshops, which focuses on direct teaching of 11 topic areas. The curriculum is unique in the sense that not only will students learn basic concepts and information regarding the topics taught, but will then apply the material to the living classroom, the Transitional Living facility. The program is designed to have the students participate in experiential learning opportunities that are both purposeful and unplanned. These events occur within a living/learning environment. The learning will take place when students apply their knowledge gained through these 11 topic areas to this unique classroom.

Program Contents

The TL curriculum contains 11 topics, 44 success indicators, and roughly 40 workshops. Each workshop contains a workshop outline. The outline describes the following areas: success indicators, workshop goals, time frame, electronic resources, hands-on activities, worksheets and handouts that apply to the topic, ideas for outside presentations, passive programming suggestions, and enrichment opportunities. The workshops were created with the idea that one workshop would be taught once a week. All workshops will be different in regards to the length of time in which it will take to cover the material.
