Opening of School Celebration

Day of Service – 9:00 AM-2:00 PM
We think the best way to pay tribute to Milton and Catherine Hershey’s legacy of giving is to give. MHS students, houseparents, staff, and alumni will spend the morning serving others in Dauphin, Lancaster, and Lebanon counties. They will then unite on campus for a special Chapel Service and a School picnic.

“Milton Hershey School Centennial Mural” by Jared Bader

We’ll unveil a 45-panel mural depicting all 100 years of the School’s history of serving children in need. Over 1,000 students, staff, and alumni participated in this community mural created by Philadelphia Mural Arts Program Artist Jared Bader.

Catherine Hershey Sculpture Unveiling
August 17, 2009
To honor Catherine’s role in the founding of this remarkable home and school, we commissioned noted sculptor David Daniels to create a statue of Catherine Hershey. “Kitty” will stand in the ceremonial entrance of the Catherine Hall middle school building, formerly Old Senior Hall.

Homecoming Birthday Party

Our annual Homecoming Weekend will conclude with a party in honor of Mr. Hershey’s birthday, reminiscent of the 1930s celebrations at the Hersheypark Arena. The program will feature some of our most talented alumni entertainers, including April Hall ’88 and James Longacre ’67 in addition to performances by our students and the Hershey Symphony Orchestra.

Mini-Open House: Founders Hall, Dearden House, and The Homestead

On September 26 between 9:00 AM and 7:00 PM, visit Milton Hershey School's Founders Hall to register for the chance to win two free tickets to a special private concert by American Idol winner Jordin Sparks. No purchase necessary to enter or win. Only legal residents of the United States, 18 or older are eligible to enter.

Founders Week

Founders Keepers Trivia Tournament – All Milton Hershey School students will test their knowledge of School history during this school-wide tournament. The final competitions will be broadcast on the campus closed-circuit television channel.

Deed of Trust Unveiling – We’ve completely restored the original Deed of Trust document. The Deed, in its protective case, will be on display in Founders Hall.

Family weekend is always held on Mother's Day. This celebration will highlight Catherine (Kitty) Hershey, and celebrate her role, since Milton always said, "It was Kitty's idea."

Youth in Poverty Symposium

MHS is looking toward the next century of helping children in need by partnering with America’s Promise to host a national symposium. We’ll bring together thought leaders, professionals, and students to share information on issues surrounding youth in poverty.
